The New York Jets have agreed to trade Cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tamba Bay Buccaneers for the 13th overall pick in Thursdays draft and a conditional pick in 2014. The Bucs also announced that they have signed Revis to a six year $96 million dollar contract with no guaranteed money. This deal makes him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history and the third highest non-quarterback player in the NFL. Revis was planned to make 6 million in the final year of his contract with the Jets. Having no guaranteed money he is betting on himself being only six months removed from his acl surgery and just cleared to run without any limitations last Monday. In the event that the Bucs decide to cut Revis they will owe him nothing but thar is highly unlikely. After being ranked last in pass defense last year the Bucs added deshawn goldson earlier this offseason and now Revis will help their secondary a lot in a pass heavy NFC south. The Bucs open up the season against the Jets in which Revis says he’ll be healthy enough to play.
