The Bucs Land Revis Island

bf582a0d6cf5b89ae7740d51982cad70ccb431a7The New York Jets have agreed to trade Cornerback Darrelle Revis to the Tamba Bay Buccaneers for the 13th overall pick in Thursdays draft and a conditional pick in 2014. The Bucs also announced that they have signed Revis to a six year $96 million dollar contract with no guaranteed money. This deal makes him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history and the third highest non-quarterback player in the NFL. Revis was planned to make 6 million in the final year of his contract with the Jets. Having no guaranteed money he is betting on himself being only six months removed from his acl surgery and just cleared to run without any limitations last Monday. In the event that the Bucs decide to cut Revis they will owe him nothing but thar is highly unlikely. After being ranked last in pass defense last year the Bucs added deshawn goldson earlier this offseason and now Revis will help their secondary a lot in a pass heavy NFC south. The Bucs open up the season against the Jets in which Revis says he’ll be healthy enough to play.

Who Will The Ravens Take?

hi-res-162768703_display_imageThe 2013 NFL draft will be held Wednesday, April 25th at Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The Ravens hold  the 32nd pick in the first round but they have a history of moving up and down the draft board. In 2010 they moved out of the first round and also did it again last year where they selected Courtney Upshaw with the 35th overall pick. The Ravens moved up to take Joe Flacco in 2008 and moved up again the next year in 2009 to draft tackle Michael Oher. Their biggest need is at safety, Inside linebacker, wide receiver, and left tackle. Here are some possible prospects they can take.

Keenan Allen– 6’2, 206,- He is drawing lots of comparisons to Anquan Bolden. After a great freshman year Allen took his game to another level catching  98 passes for 1,343 yards and six scores, earning First Team All-Pac-12 honors from the conference coaches. He has a long, tapered build with prototypical height for the position. Very good all-around athlete. Good initial quickness, balance and lateral agility.

Matt Elam– 5’10, 208,- A two-year starter as part of the Gators’ secondary, Matt Elam will put forward one of the best highlight reels of any prospect in this class due to his big hits and personality on the field. Plays close to the line of scrimmage or in the box very often. At his best when asked to make a play, either blitzing or one on one on the edge. Frequently assigned to cover the slot receiver.

Kevin Minter– 6’0, 246,- He was a very consistent player over the last two seasons. He led LSU with 111 tackles and 13.5 tackle for losses. Minter disappointed by running a 4.81 40-yard dash at the scouting combine, but he was able to shave that down to the 4.7 range at his pro day.

Jonathan Cyprien– 6’0, 217,- He is one of the best strong safeties in the draft this year. his stock rose on a lot of teams draft board after his strong showing at the Senior Bowl. He is a vocal leader with strong leadership qualities,a physical player, a good athlete, and has very good ball skills.
